Things didn’t work out between The Golden Bachelorette’s Pascal Ibgui and Kelly Bensimon — and now the two are spilling on why.
In an interview on the “I Do, Part 2” podcast released on Saturday, May 3, Ibgui, 69, revealed that something Bensimon, 57, said while filming turned him off. According to Ibqui, the pair were talking about a potential date when Bensimon told him they would “go to the Viagra Triangle” to “have a burger and beer” and he would see her “picture on the wall.”
Bensimon clarified she was referencing her March 2010 Playboy cover. “I was kind of a little bit, honestly, I was a little bit turn off for me, okay?” Ibgui said on the podcast. He added that he would have “prefer[red to] take you to a Ralph Lauren restaurant, which is a beautiful surrounding, where we could have a nice conversation.”
Bensimon admitted she regretted what she said, nothing, “There’s so many beautiful places, and I really appreciate… I love the Polo Bar, I went there so many times with my parents, and I have the most beautiful memories there, and I really appreciate that.”
She added, “I was just trying to, like, push a little bit. because in my journey, which you don’t know about, but in my personal journey on this podcast, I have been going through therapy, and then having these, whether they’re dates, or, you know, just talking on the pod with, you know, my, a lot of my new friends, like whether it’s DeAnna [Pappas], Cheryl Burke, Jenna Cramer, and I’ve been learning a lot.”
The reality TV star also shared that she was “not the kind of person that ever says that, and I don’t say that.” She shared, “That’s kind of like my Housewives personality, and I regret saying that, and I apologize.” (Benismon starred on The Real Housewives of New York City from seasons 2 to 4.)
Despite the awkward moment, both Ibgui and Bensimon made it clear that they have a tremendous amount of respect for one another.
In an April 8 episode of the “Ben & Ashley I Almost Famous” podcast, Bensimon said Ibgui “slid into my DMs” — but she wasn’t sure about going out on a date.
“I’m not a zeroing-in-on-somebody kind of person. Let’s date before we get married, tread the waters, meet people,” she explained. “I’m a little gun shy, I’m not going to lie. I’ve had two failed relationships.” Bensimon was married to Gilles Bensimon from 1997 to 2007 and was engaged to Scott Litner until the pair broke up in June 2024.
Ibgui also opened up recently about his relationship history. “I’m single, and I’m not single because nobody wants me, I’m single because the one I want [doesn’t] want me,” Pascal explained on the March 6 episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast. He mentioned that he prefers to date women who are between the ages of 55 and 65.
“Depend[s] upon the person,” he explained at the time. “You could have a 65-year-old woman who know[s] how to take care of herself, who’s into health and fitness, who know[s] how to dress. … I have no problem with the age, but it has to be age-appropriate. So, again, [setting] the record straight. I do not go out with young women.”
