The festival’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, explained that the scheduling of their appearances was intentional to ensure they would not encounter each other. Friends of the former couple expressed surprise that their divorce has yet to be finalized after all this time, noting that many had hoped for a resolution by now. There is a shared hope that Pitt and Jolie can reach an agreement on the remaining matrimonial issues while the separate legal battle over their French winery, Château Miraval, continues.
The Miraval case has been a significant point of contention between the two. The dispute centers around the winery they purchased together in 2012 for $60 million. After their split, Jolie decided to sell her half of the winery to the Stoli Group, which Pitt claimed was done to intentionally cause him harm. The wine they produced from the estate had been a successful venture, with their first batch of rosé selling out quickly.
Despite the ongoing conflict, Pitt expressed in an interview with GQ that he is focusing on enjoying life with his loved ones and appreciating the simple things. He admitted that he might sound clichéd but said he has found a renewed appreciation for life, stating that “the air is fresh and the grass is green.”
Pitt and Jolie’s relationship began in 2004, and they married in 2014. However, their marriage ended in 2016, just two years later. Despite the end of their romantic relationship, their legal battles continue to intertwine their lives.
