Fans are expressing concern after reports surfaced online about director Vignesh Shivan’s X account being deactivated. The reason behind this move has sparked widespread discussion online.
Reports suggest that the backlash he faced following his appearance in a roundtable discussion might have prompted the deactivation. Another theory is that the ongoing legal dispute with actor Dhanush could also be a contributing factor.
Vignesh Shivan was one of the panel members at a round table discussion this year. According to Hindustan Times, many criticised his inclusion in the discussion, arguing that his last film, ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’, was not a pan-Indian movie. The choice of guests for the panel also drew significant criticism.
As of now, Vignesh Shivan has not issued any official statement regarding his decision to deactivate his X account. However, he remains active on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Nayanthara recently issued an open letter addressing actor Dhanush. She accused him of delaying her Netflix documentary, ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale’. Nayanthara claimed that Dhanush’s legal team demanded Rs 10 crore as compensation for a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from his production ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ featured in the trailer of the documentary two years ago.

Directed by Vignesh Shivan, ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ has now become a point of contention, with Dhanush’s legal team filing a civil suit against both Nayanthara and Vignesh. According to The Hindu, Dhanush’s production company has approached the High Court seeking permission to initiate legal action against Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, which oversees Netflix’s content investments in India. Nayanthara has been asked to respond during the next court hearing.
