Indira Krishnan showers praise on 'Ramayan' co-star Ranbir Kapoor: 'I can't see another actor playing Ram'

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan features Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in the lead roles of Ram, Sita, and Ravana, respectively. Although the film has been in development for some time without official announcements, Yash recently confirmed his role as Ravana. Indira Krishnan revealed that Ravi Dubey will play Lakshman.
In an interview with Join Films, Indira Krishnan announced the completion of shooting for Ramayan, where she plays Kaushalya, Ram’s mother. She discussed how television actors are gaining more significant opportunities, mentioning that Ravi Dubey, known for shows like Jamai Raja and Saas Bina Sasural, will portray Lakshman in the film.

Indira confirmed that she has completed filming Ramayan, where she portrays Kaushalya alongside Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. She expressed strong confidence in the film’s success, attributing its anticipated hit status to its stunning visuals rather than just the star-studded cast.

In the same discussion, Indira revealed that Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal of Lord Ram in a previous television adaptation, will take on the role of Dashrath in Ramayan. She noted that Govil’s appearance closely resembles Dashrath, and shared how he reminisced about the making of the earlier Ramayan during their shoot.
Indira praised Ranbir, describing him as a grounded individual and a talented actor who connects well with people. She emphasized his respect for others in the industry and highlighted his versatility, believing he is the best fit for the role of Ram. Indira noted his thoughtful approach to acting, his collaboration with co-stars, and the expressiveness of his eyes.

The actress noted that audiences will be eager to see how Ranbir and Yash portray their roles as Ram and Ravana, presenting a significant challenge for both actors. She also reflected on the failure of Adipurush, citing poor VFX, weak character development, and controversial dialogues as key issues, highlighting the sensitivity of adapting such a renowned story.
In an earlier interview with Film Companion, Yash confirmed his role as Ravana in Ramayan, expressing his excitement about the character’s complexity and depth. He emphasized that Ravana is a captivating role, allowing him to explore various shades of the character. Yash is eager to bring a unique interpretation to this iconic figure in the film.
