‘Stree 2’ OTT release: X review - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer receives mixed reactions but Akshay Kumar’s cameo steals the show

Amar Kaushik’s ‘Stree 2’ enjoyed an exceptional run at the box office. The horror-comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead broke several records and got rave reviews upon its theatrical release. Now after the big screen, the movie has been made available for online streaming, and the X reviews of the OTT release showcase mixed reactions from the netizens.
Some cinephiles did enjoy the horror comedy, but many were disappointed as well.Netizens known for their blunt honesty, even called it a flop. One of the Twitter reviews read – “#Stree2 Wat a flop movie 🤦🏼‍♂️ cant understand how its super hit its full of overacting no sense loose dialogues no story 3rd rated comedy 🤦🏼‍♂️🙏🏻”.

Another X user shared – “I just watched स्त्री 2. It’s just a very average story with lame comedy & dialogues. It’s 135 minutes, & 90 minutes of it are below average. There’s no depth in the story, and it’s very predictable. I’m highly disappointed again from Bollywood. I’ll give it 5 out of 10.”

Besides Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor and the rest of the ‘Stree 2’ members who reprised their roles in the movie, the horror comedy had three very special cameos – Tamannaah Bhatia, ‘Bhediya’ Varun Dhawan, and the last standing relative of ‘Sarkata’ – Akshay Kumar. These cameos did add another dimension to the movie, and the fans simply can’t get enough of Akshay Kumar especially.
Reflecting on Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Banerjee’s unexpected and hilarious chemistry, one of the netizens wrote – “The expressions in this scene are priceless! #AkshayKumar Sir and #AbhishekBanerjee’s comedic timing is absolutely on point, making it a standout moment. #Stree2 😂🔥.”

Another tweet read – “Takliyan And some think they can beat #AkshayKumar‘s acting. What a joke ”

At the same time, as aforementioned, some netizens did find the horror comedy tickling their funny bones. An X user wrote – “#Stree2 the best comedy horror I’ve watched in soo long 😭🤣I can’t remember when I laughed that hard as much I did today.”

‘Stree 2’ is now available at Prime Video at a rent of Rs.349. At this rental price, the viewers get a 48-hour window of access once they hit play. And for free online streaming, the subscribers need to wait till October 11, 2024.
